Helpful Tips about your Pets
Is Your Pet in Pain?
An injured pet has to stop hurting to start healing ... So how do you tell if your pet has an ache or pain? Animals in pain may eat less & become less active or even refuse to move at all. They might lick, bite, or scratch the site of the pain.
Dogs may become restless & pace constantly. They may also shiver, pant, or whimper and the pupils of their eyes may appear large. Some dogs may growl when approached or even try to bite when handled. Cats who are hurting tend to hide. They may sit in a hunched position & refuse to lie down normally. They sometimes growl or hiss when approached & may even howl & run away. Like dogs, they may pant & have dilated pupils.
If your pet exhibits such symptoms or behavior call your vet & explain what you think might have happened, where you think the pet is injured and what symptoms he is showing. Your vet will advise you how to safely catch your pet & transport it to the office for a checkup. Treating pain can enhance health & aid in a more rapid recovery.
